Fundación MAPFRE allocates 1 million euros to issue 10,000 food cards for families most affected by the crisis

To help these families recover, Fundación MAPFRE has created the Family Food Card, which will be distributed to socially vulnerable families with children through 30 social welfare organizations throughout Spain.

Each card will have a value of 100 euros, which can be used to purchase food and hygiene products at Carrefour stores. Families will receive a card every month for three months, each receiving 300 euros of aid in total.

The initiative, which is part of the Fundación MAPFRE Sé Solidario program, aims to provide standardized help to vulnerable families in Spain.

Beneficiaries were selected and cards distributed in coordination with more than 30 social welfare organizations from all over Spain that collaborate in the Fundación MAPFRE Sé Solidario program and have specific first-hand knowledge of the most vulnerable situations in each of Spain’s autonomous communities.

The scheme will mostly benefit families with children and who have been affected by ERTEs (Expediente de Regulación Temporal de Empleo — temporary layoffs), suffered job losses during the pandemic or whose income has declined drastically as a result of the crisis caused by the pandemic.

This donation is part of the 35 million euros that Fundación MAPFRE has made available so far across 27 countries to fight COVID-19, help families and revive employment.

Technical results improved over previous year as the near lockdown months and the lack of tourist visiting the island affected favourably the claim frequency particularly in Motor.
