MAPFRE Malta reinforce its commitment towards corporate social responsibility during Coronavirus pandemic

CSR MAPFRE
During this year, MAPFRE Malta met its CSR objectives by collaborating with a number of different entities, through activities ranging from food and blood donations, environmental activities and clean-ups, the provision of medical facemasks, and special discounts to help ease the financial burden of those most affected by COVID-19.

Earlier this year, MAPFRE Malta provided 300 healthy food packs to the staff at Mater Dei Hospital as an expression of its appreciation towards all individuals working in the health sector during the pandemic. Furthermore, Fundación MAPFRE allocated 35 million euros to various international projects across 27 different countries and donated 100,000 facemasks to Maltese health front-liners to help face the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of its celebration of World Blood Donor Day, several MAPFRE Malta staff members donated blood to the National Blood Transfusion Unit as their contribution towards ensuring a safe and sustainable blood supply. This was followed by a similar effort in November.

MAPFRE Malta also joined the fight against breast cancer with a variety of awareness-raising activities through their #ThinkPink campaign, as well as by collaborating with the Action for Breast Cancer Foundation by donating €1 for every online policy purchased or renewed throughout October.

Furthermore, Fundación MAPFRE has once again collaborated with the Inspire Foundation and Equal Partners Foundation by means of funding the provision of specialised services to children and adults with a disability. In this regard, MAPFRE Malta contributed a sum of €53,000 to cover the running costs of one of Inspire Foundation’s therapeutic facilities, the Multi-Sensory Rooms and with a sum of over €30,000 to Equal Partners Foundation to support their efforts to enable children who suffer from a disability to lead a more independent life.

Commenting on MAPFRE Malta CSR programme, CEO Felipe Navarro said that “we feel privileged to be in a position to support the local community in helping those in need. Together with Fundación MAPFRE, a non-profit institution of the MAPFRE Group and a leading global foundation committed to people’s well-being and social progress, the company has managed to contribute towards improving the quality of life of those in need, and towards the progress of society, through various programmes and activities throughout the year.”
