MSV Life recertified equal opportunities employer

The certification follows a thorough exercise where the company was assessed for its equal opportunities policies, recruitment process, human resources framework, employee survey and conduct training by the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE), with the support of the European Social Fund (ESF). Although these practices were already in place when MSV received the first Certification, these are reviewed every three years to ensure that standards are maintained.

MSV has a total staff complement of 80, 55% of whom are women at all levels.

“As a responsible company, we do not only look after our business interests but also, and equally important, our respect towards our employees and the community we operate in,” said MSV Life CEO David G. Curmi. “Every member of society deserves to play an integral part within the workforce, with equal opportunities that do justice to their skills and their potential to give a valid contribution at the workplace. At MSV we are proud to have these ethical practices in place.”

The Equality Mark Certification acknowledges the company’s commitment to provide equal access to opportunities and career development based on employees’ potentials, irrespective of their gender, age, status or other factors. “Initiatives that assist employees to find a balance between work and family commitments further reinforce MSV’s commitment towards equality and underpin its endeavour to be an employer of choice,” said Norman Mifsud, Chief Officer HR & Corporate Services at MSV Life.

In collaboration with the Inspire Foundation, MSV Life also practises another initiative, giving young people over the age of 16 with developmental disabilities, training opportunities and exposure to work environments that reflect their dignity. The initiative is also intended to help these youngsters develop their social and employability skills which would ultimately enhance their chances to find permanent employment in the open market. One of these employees is now permanently employed with MSV Life. The initiative was jointly started by MSV and MAPFRE Middlesea 16 years ago and the two companies currently have a seconded complement of 14 youngsters between the ages of 23 and 33 years of age with developmental disabilities.

MSV Life p.l.c. is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority to carry on long term business under the Insurance Business Act 1998.
